What's up everyone and Welcome to my sick little blog.

Here in my blog I'm gonna tell you the who,…The what,…the where,…the when and…the why,…about the making of our new CD…Sonic X "THIRTEEN"…Always keep in mind…The names have been changed to protect the innocent…(Me that is)…I don’t want to get sued!!!!!!!!

I have to say first off that, this record was a big leap forward for us as a band. We decided early on when writing it, that we were going to embrace any musical idea, and lyrical idea no matter who or where it came from. As well as GROW as writers. There are a lot of people and record companies out there who would like 1987 to be in every song we write. Well that’s not gonna happen. Here is why… The year was 2005-2006 when we wrote this material, and we decide to combined who we where as a band, and who we are now as a band. Rather than write Sonic X #1 all over again (because that's what the record label wanted). We decided not to repeat ourselves and be what a rock band should be, true to ourselves and fans. We knew that our fans have grown since the last record and so had we, So we decided to be true to the music and let it bleed…that…is why we wrote this record…With all of that said, now I'm gonna dish the dirt.

Sonic X "Thirteen" was written over year and a half period of some of the best and worst times in my life. Every song on this record for me, is written about somebody I know, or who has had some effect on me personally. This record is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. So let's start with the dirt...The first track I'm gonna tell you about is…"Disgrace"…it is about the break down of my relationship with a woman that was in my life. We went through a hideous break up, and it left me feeling very beaten down. I was made to feel inferior and not worth anything. Well, anyone who knows me knows, that was not gonna fly. As I started to come out of the funk. I realized there was NO WAY that I was gonna take all the blame, nor was I gonna break (Like She Wanted Me Too). The line in the song that says it best is the opening line…"Back to the start left here bleeding again / open arms to the faithless I run / why does it always feel like your always behind me / trying to block out the sun"…That line just jumped in my head when I first heard the opening guitar line. Then the drums kick in and the song just about wrote it self…I like writing lyrics that go deeper than "Oh baby you broke my heart". "Disgrace" is an example of that…The funny thing about recording this song was Lawrence had just gotten some new studio gear and was trying it out for the first time. So he kept having me sing certain parts of the song over and over again (This is some what normal when recording). When it got to the chorus…the same thing…well now my voice is starting to get very gravelly…so just when I’m about to put my foot in Lawrence's ass…He says…Ok lets move on to the next chorus I got a good take…Translation…He was having me redo it over and over until it sounded pissed off enough…Well needless to say my voice took quite a beating on this song…If I had to name which was the toughest for me to record, It would have to be "Disgrace"…The attitude had to bleed on this song and…it did……

Well that's all for this week boys and girls…Tune in next week for…………..

"The Check Is in the Mail Story"…and I will try to explain why…it took so long to get this record out……..

Ciao
